The Guide to National Public Health Department Initial Accreditation (June 2015) presents the process for seeking and obtaining initial public health department accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). Whether you are a director of a health department, a health department’s Accreditation Coordinator, an employee of a public health department, or an individual generally interested in public health accreditation, the Guide will help you understand the steps and commitment required to complete the national public health department initial accreditation process. The reaccreditation process is presented in a separate document.
Health departments considering or working toward accreditation should carefully review the Guide to National Public Health Department Initial Accreditation. Please note that, as of March 19, 2019, PHAB is no longer accepting Multi-jurisdictional applications (page 6 of the Guide).
