About Us

The purpose of the Center of School Health Innovation & Quality is to reinvent school health and school nursing practice to better serve all students, with a special focus on students from underserved groups facing inequities. The initial goals of the Center are to:

  • Reimagine data driven school health
  • Innovate & research
  • Promote leadership

School health, as outlined by the CDC includes health education, physical education & activity, nutrition environment & services, health services, counseling, psychological, & social services, social & emotional climate, physical environment, employee wellness, family engagement, and community involvement.

Activities and Services

The Center for School Health Innovation & Quality will drive innovation in school health research and leadership so students in every community gain the tools needed to thrive in school and live healthy lives.

What we do:

  • Serve as a hub to bring school nurse researchers together to strategically advance research, policy & innovation
  • Serve as a think tank for school health stakeholders
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance regarding data-driven school health
  • Conduct needs assessments and evaluations of school health programs
  • Provide training on school health leadership, research, data, coalition building, and interdisciplinary collaboration
