The development of the Public Health Workforce Calculator began in September 2020; the PHAB Center for Innovation partnered with the de Beaumont Foundation to develop a national estimate of staffing needed to perform the FPHS. The estimate found that more than 80,000 additional FTEs are needed in state and local health departments to implement the FPHS.
